Summer break is coming to an end and school days are on the horizon. Every year, cold, flu, and other illnesses cause students to miss precious school time. Whether you’re a teacher, student, or parent, here are some tips for a happy and healthy school year.
Disinfect shared surfaces with OdoBan® Ready-to-Use Spray.
Germs lurk on shared surfaces such as door knobs, pencil sharpeners, light switches, desks and more. Kill germs by disinfecting hard, nonporous surfaces with OdoBan®. For parents, consider sending a bottle of OdoBan® to school with your student.
Wash your hands regularly.
Don’t want to get sick? Wash your hands! Germs easily transfer from shared surfaces to our hands. When we touch our face, germs enter our bodies through our mouths and nasal passages. Stop germs in their tracks and help prevent illness by frequently washing your hands. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends scrubbing for at least 20 seconds.
Eat healthy foods.
A balanced diet is essential for maintaining a strong immune system to fight off illness. Enjoy lots of fruits and vegetables with meals or as a snack to pack in plenty of vitamins and keep your body healthy.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, kids require at least an hour of exercise every day. There are countless reasons why exercise is essential for good health, from developing muscle strength and keeping bones strong, to maintaining a healthy weight and improving mental focus.
Get enough sleep.
Sleep is important for the healing and repair of our bodies. Teenagers require eight to ten hours of sleep a night, while younger kids need even more. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, your immune system needs sleep to stay healthy. Lack of sleep can negatively affect the way your immune system responds, taking your body longer to recover from illness.
Bonus tip: OdoBan® Solid Odor Absorbers neutralize odors, leaving a lasting, fresh scent. Leave one in your bedroom to promote a calm and relaxing atmosphere for sleep.
